Glass SSC in Katowice

POLAND American glass manufacturer Guardian Industries has opened the Guardian Business Solutions shared service centre in Katowice to service its Polish and Russian affiliates.

The company also operated a similar centre in Troy, Michigan in the USA. The GBS centre takes up 600 sqm on the 16th floor of the Altus office building but is soon to double in size. Currently the centre employs 60 people, but a further 30 are to be employed once the centre takes on responsibility for the company’s Russian operations. “Guardian Glass is one of the largest US investments from the USA to be assisted by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency,” says Krzysztof Senger, the president of the agency. “This could be a really good year for American investors in Poland because we are currently working on 60 projects from across the Atlantic, which have a total value of over EUR 1 bln.

This is the highest level of investment from all the countries we cover,” he added. In Poland Guardian produces glass at a factory built in 2002 in Częstochowa within the Katowice Special Economic Zone where it employs more than 300 people. Guardian is planning to soon extend the production plant.
